"My Soul is in the Sky."
The 19th of February welcomes a Full Super moon in Virgo. The moon governs our “inner selves” — the feelings, deep desires and soul urges that we keep from others. Much like the moon waxes and wanes, reveals and hides herself, the lunar cycles also affect how much we share or show to others. Virgo energy inspires our organisational ability, project leadership and mental endurance, so pick any project that could take off with some inspiration and have it ready to go for this full moon. As this is a super moon, you’ll notice that this energy is going to be powerful!
Don't let it knock you for six, harness it and use it to your own advantage. Virgo energy also brings the need to be cautious and conscious of details and guiding the principle of organisation. This is a great opportunity to get a lot of work done and recharge in these final stages of winter. This Virgo moon is also an ideal time for a solo meditation on your personal imperfections. Reflect on any changes you'd like to make, and try not to be too hard on yourself as the bright full moon feels the Earth power of Virgo through her transit.
There are so many ways we can use ritual to tap into the power of the full moon. I’m going to share one of my favourite full moon rituals with you. You can make changes to this in anyway that you feel inspired, or you can follow it as written. Remember, this is your ritual so whatever feels best to you will be most effective. By bringing our intention to a full moon ritual, and harnessing the intensity, we invite a spiritual sacredness into our experience,
Connect with the Moon Goddesses:
A Goddess Meditation Ritual
Because of our monthly cycles, women have always had a very intimate and special connection with the moon. The waxing, full and waning moon are associated with the triple Goddess archetypes of the Maiden, Mother and Crone, a new menstrual cycle, ovulation and bleeding/shedding, and the universal cycle of birth, life and death/transformation.
The full moon corresponds to the Mother (at its fullest) and Crone (just after full/beginning to wane), and the Goddesses associated are intuitive Egyptian Goddess Isis and Celtic Morrigan, Mayan healing Goddess Ixchel, maternal Greek goddesses Demeter and Selene, and Norse Frigg/Freya—to name a few. As each of these Goddesses awaken different sacred feminine aspects within us, you can ask for all their gifts or specific ones, depending on what you want to manifest into your life.
To connect with these Goddesses, simply sit in meditation and when you feel called, state the name of the Goddess you wish to invite, as well as any specific areas you wish to work on with her. (For example, you can invite Demeter to nourish yourself and aid you to be more receptive, Ixchel can be called to heal your menstrual cycle, Goddess Frigg is called for fertility, and Isis and Moriggan are called upon for increased intuition.
Remember, these Goddesses ultimately represent your own sacred feminine qualities, so when meditating, connect with them in whatever way resonates with you—as Goddesses in and of themselves, or as Divine Feminine aspects within your self.
There’s nothing more to this ritual than cultivating your sacred space and inviting them in whilst sitting in meditation. Remember to pay special attention to your intuitive senses. Clairaudience (clear healing), clairsentience (clear feeling), claircognizence (clear knowing) and clairvoyance (clear seeing). Depending on which sense is stronger for you, you may hear, feel, see or simply know of their guidance, presence and love. No matter what, trust that by simply asking for the support of our Goddesses, you are creating a connection with your own divine feminine gifts, which reveal themselves subtly and mysteriously within yourself and throughout your life each day after.
As you play with your rituals and find ones that work for you, know that you are harnessing the incredible energies and gifts of a time that can otherwise feel overwhelming and out of control. All cycles in nature bless us with their own gifts, and learning how to embrace the magical phases of the moon helps elevate our human existence into sacred experience. So let’s open our arms to this Super Mother Moon, and allow her to take us in hers.
