The Wound is the Place Where the Light Enters You.
On the 18th of February 2019, Chiron moves boldly into fire sign Aries and stays there until the 14th of April 2027. Chiron is a tiny planetoid which was only discovered in 1977, however - it’s significance has already shown itself to be extremely powerful in any astrological birth chart. Chiron is named after a Centaurus – half God, half horse, believed to have taught ancient wisdom to mankind and occupies an eccentric orbit between the planets of Saturn and Uranus. Chiron spends the most time in Pisces and then in Aries (for around 8 or 9 years)! Because Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, and Aries the first sign, he stays here the longest because this is where we have the most work to do, including closing the chapters of one cycle, and then bridging over and connecting to the beginning of a brand new chapter of 7 or 8 years.
Chiron represents the archetype of the "Wounded Healer" and is about delving deep within to heal ourselves. Chiron is where we feel wounded, fearful, hurt and inadequate. Sometimes these have carried over from previous lives. This transit into Aries will challenge the very expression of your individuality. Chiron's position in your birth chart reveals where you has been wounded, but it also reveals where there is medicine for deep soul healing from within. After this comes the sharing of your discoveries with other people, because from our wounds arises within us a deep compassion for helping the suffering.
Aries is energetic, out-there and forceful and as the 1st sign of the Zodiac this is where we express our individuality, our passions, desires, impulse, and instincts. Aries is where we go for what we really want, where we create our individuality, our status and express our authenticity. This is also where we make our life decisions, by choosing to go out into the world and choose how we express ourselves. Chiron in Aries will ask each of us to focus on and heal – once and for all – the wounds of our identity, a wound that we are each born with. This transition is about taking responsibility for your individual existence. The time has come to be present with your wounds, your shame and your pain. It’s time to heal yourself despite the hurt. You are going to feel all of it, i don’t doubt. Now comes the time where you need to show yourself and the rest of the world what you can do.
You will begin to associate this mentoring and healing process with the gifts of courage, initiative and assertion. This applies to both the kind of mentoring you seek for yourself, and the kind that you are eventually able to extend to others. You may encounter mentor figures who are bold, exciting, or adventurous. You may feel wounded or inadequate in these traditionally masculine areas of life, or experience an insoluble conflict in regards to these things. Experiences with aggression, premature independence, loss, or lack of courage can evoke your philosophical side and awaken a true sense of wisdom as you struggle to come to terms with the ongoing suffering and the healing sought.
It takes courage to become authentic. So many talk about the light but not enough speak the truth about the struggles it takes to get there and the tools to overcome it all. The wound is where the light enters you. Chiron reminds us that only through recognising and facing your wounds can you be offered the key to your self-healing. He shows us how to be strong in the face of adversity, and if we allow - he shows us exactly how to survive it.
And So It Shall Be
